Zion Williamson of the New Orleans Pelicans finds himself in another controversy after being accused of rape in a lawsuit filed by a woman identified as Jane Doe at the Los Angeles Superior Court on Thursday.
According to the lawsuit, the woman, who claims to be Williamson’s ex-girlfriend, is accusing the 24-year-old NBA star of assaulting her sexually two times in 2020.
The woman added that Williamson previously showed patterns of abusive, controlling and threatening behaviour in a number of places including California and Louisiana, among other states.
“Our client is very adamant about this — it’s not her desire or our desire to litigate this case in the press,” Jane Doe’s attorney, Sam Taylor with the Lanier Law Firm, told the New York Post.
Taylor added, “It’s a very serious case, as reflected in the allegations. Our client looks forward to her day in court where she can go and explain to a jury what happened to her, the things she endured for this defendant and getting justice.”
New Orleans Pelicans are yet to publicly comment on the allegations. Representatives of the two-time All-Star are also yet to make a comment so far.
Previously, Williamson was involved in controversy with another woman, former adult actress, Moriah Mills, who accused him of cheating on her with another woman in 2023.
