Super Eagles striker Gift Orban made a statement for Olympique Lyon ahead of the new season, scoring two goals in a 4-0 win over Union Berlin of Germany in a pre-season friendly match.
Orban scored in the 75th and 85th minute after former Premier League stars Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Said Benrahma put the Ligue 1 side 2-0 up in the second half following a goalless first half in Berlin.
Orban, who started the gams on the bench, got his first after running off the last defender to latch on to the Lyon keeper’s quickly taken goalkick and slot past the onrushing Union Berlin keeper.
His next goal started off with the goalkeeper again, as Perri’s goalkick found Mama Balde whose ball into the Union Berlin area was met by Orban for the final goal.
Next up for Lyon is a match against Premier League side Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium in what will serve as a reunion for Maitland-Niles and the Gunners.
