Real Madrid forward Vinicius Jr has been handed a two-game suspension following his dismissal against Valencia in a La Liga match which the Spanish champions won 2-1 thanks to a stoppage time Jude Bellingham goal last weekend.

The confirmation of Vini Jr.’s ban was made known by the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) and the Disciplinary Committee, which handed the Brazilian the ban.

The Disciplinary Committee followed the RFEF words with the following justification: “Vinicius Junior is suspended for two matches for violent conduct on the fringes of play, not being in a position to contest the ball or the stoppage of play. In addition, an a fine of €700 is imposed on the club and €600 on the offender.”

Despite the ruling, Vinicius Jr is free to play for Real Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup this week in Saudi Arabia as his suspension is only limited to La Liga matches. The Ballon d’Or runner-up, will now miss the next La Liga fixtures against Las Palmas and Real Valladolid.

Vinicius Jr was sent off in the 79th minute in the league game against Valencia last Friday, after slapping goalkeeper Dimitrievski in an off-the-ball incident. Further controversy ensued as Vini refused to leave the pitch and had to be restrained and forced off by his teammates.
