Boston Celtics showed no lag whatsoever from the break as the reigning NBA champions made easy work of the New York Knicks in a crushing 132-109 win on Ring Night at TD Garden to open the 2024-25 NBA season.
The Knicks strengthened in the off-season with Mikal Bridges joining from the Brooklyn Nets and Karl-Anthony Towns arriving from the Minnesota Timberwolves.
However, both combined for 28 points only while Jalen Brunson and Miles McBride posted 22 points each as the visitors had no answer for the Celtics’ onslaught.
Jayson Tatum led that onslaught with 37 points, 10 assists and 8 made three-point shots as the Celtics matched a record 29 made three-points on their way to a win that sends a big statement to the rest of the league that Boston is up for the title defence.
