Manchester United and Galatasaray are back in the race to sign Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen, from Napoli after the Nigerian turned down a big-money offer to join Saudi Pro League outfit, Al Hilal.

The 2023-24 Saudi champions had offered Osimhen a staggering €35m per year salary to sign permanently from the reigning Italian champions, with an option in the deal allowing him to return to Europe when an offer comes.

Despite a medical being scheduled by Al Hilal in anticipation for Osimhen, the 26-year-old has turned down the move as he seeks to remain in Europe for now – opening the door for Galatasaray and United to try signing the striker.

Osimhen enjoyed a successful 2024-25 season on loan at Galatasaray, scoring 26 goals in the Super Lig to lead the club to the Turkish title, and being instrumental as the Istanbul-based club won the Turkish Cup to complete a domestic double.

Galatasaray are reported to be willing to go all out to keep Osimhen at RAMS Park beyond the 2024-25 season, but they may have to fend off renewed interest from the Premier League as Ruben Amorim’s United look set for a busy summer in the transfer window.

The Red Devils have signed Matheus Cunha and are close to completing a deal for Brentford’s Cameroonian forward, Bryan Mbeumo, with the likes of Alejandro Garnacho, Marcus Rashford, and Rasmus Hojlund likely to leave on loan or permanently to accommodate the new faces at Old Trafford.

Another player that could be on his way out of Old Trafford is Joshua Zirkzee, according to La Gazetta dello Sport, with the report stating that United could send the Netherlands international to Napoli in an effort to facilitate Osimhen’s transfer.
