Nigeria, yet to register a win after four rounds of the qualifiers, will take on Rwanda in Kigali on Friday, March 21, before facing Zimbabwe in Uyo on Tuesday, March 25.
The Super Eagles go into these games needing the wins that will boost their chances of reaching the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America, with Nigeria currently fifth in the six-team group with only three points.
Rwanda leads the group at the moment with seven points, ahead of South Africa and Benin Republic on goal difference, while Lesotho is in fourth place with five points from four matches.
Only the group winners will book a place at the World Cup finals in USA, Canada and Mexico, while the best four second-placed countries from the nine groups will meet in a playoff round in which the best team will proceed to the inter-confederation playoffs.
Six countries will participate in the inter-confederation playoffs – one each from AFC, CAF, CONMEBOL, and OFC and two from CONCACAF – to decide the final two teams to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The bottom four teams in the FIFA World Rankings at the time will be drawn into two single-elimination matches, with the winners of those matches advancing to play the top two ranked teams in two single-elimination matches to determine the teams that will qualify for the World Cup.
