Interim Manchester United manager, Ruud Van Nistelrooy, has shared that he expects to learn his future “today or tomorrow” and praised the club’s transparency throughout his interim role, noting that he always understood his position was temporary ahead of Ruben Amorim’s arrival.
The Dutchman was handed the job after parting ways with Erik Ten Hag after defeat against West Ham United in the Premier League. Since then, United have won three games and drawn one under Van Nistelrooy’s guidance.
“I appreciated the clear communication that it was an interim spell for the short-term,” Van Nistelrooy said. “They initially told me it could be one game, then kept me informed if it might extend to four games with a new coach being announced.”
But with the uncertainty over his role at the club when Amorim starts work, Van Nistelrooy made clear his dedication to United, saying, “Ultimately, the club’s success is what matters most, and I am here to support it. I hope to keep doing so in the future.”
Van Nistelrooy’s unbeaten record across four games, including wins over Leicester in both the Carabao Cup and the Premier League, has strengthened his case to remain with the club. However, Amorim’s arrival, likely with his own staff, raises questions about Van Nistelrooy’s position.
