The United States Women’s National Football Team have beaten Brazil to claim gold in the football competition of the Olympic Games in Paris.
USWMT emerged with a 1-0 in a tightly contested encounter at the Parc des Princes, with Mallory Swanson scoring the game’s only goal in her 100th appearance for the team.
Marta’s Brazil won the silver medal, while Germany defeated world champions Spain by a lone goal to complete the podium with a bronze medal.
This win is the USWNT’s first gold medal in this event since the 2012 Games in London.
