A number of Nigerian players were involved in the January transfer market, with most of the switches coming in Europe although there were a few that happened elsewhere as SportsDey takes a look at the top transfers made by Nigerian players.
Akor Adams
The striker has joined Sevilla in a deal in the €6 million region after spending a year and six months at Montpellier where he scored 13 goals and made five assists in 49 games. Adams will be hoping to further his development as he links up with compatriots, Kelechi Iheanacho and Chidera Ejuke at the La Liga side.
Francisca Ordega

The veteran Super Falcons forward has signed for Saudi Women’s Premier League side, Al Ittihad, after her contract with Russian giants, CSKA Moscow, expired. Ordega has signed a deal until 2027 and will be teammates with compatriot, Ashleigh Plumptre, who is the Al Ittihad captain.
Chuba Akpom
Former Arsenal striker, Akpom, has completed a loan move from Ajax to Lille until the end of the season, with an option for the Ligue 1 side to make the deal permanent at the end of the season.
Favour Emmanuel
The midfielder has signed a two-year deal with National Women’s Soccer League outfit, San Diego Wave, with the option of an additional year. 22-year-old Emmanuel joined the American franchise from Russian outfit, Lokomotiva Moskva, where she made 20 appearances and scored a goal.
Chiamaka Okwuchukwu

Before Favour Emmanuel, San Diego Wave completed the signing of Okwuchukwu from Nigerian Women’s Premier League side, Rivers Angels, for an undisclosed fee. The 19-year-old, a finalist in the 2024 CAF Women’s Young Player of the Year, has signed a one-year deal with the NWSL club.
Daniel Daga
Exciting teenage prospect, Daniel Daga, has signed a two-year deal with Norwegian giants, Molde FK, following a spell on loan at Enyimba.
Bruno Onyemaechi

The Super Eagles full-back has secured a move to Greek giants, Olympiacos, from struggling Portuguese side, Boavista, signing a three-year deal which will see him play for the club until the summer of 2028.
Gift Orban
Barely a year after joining Olympique Lyon and struggled for game time, Orban has moved from Ligue 1 to the Bundesliga where he has signed for Hoffenheim in a €9 million deal along with €3 million in performance-based add-ons.
Umar Sadiq
The forward joined Valencia on a six-month loan deal from Real Sociedad with the option to make the deal permanent at the end of the season as he looks to get valuable game time and regain some consistency in his career.
