Premier League trio, Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur, alongside Italian Serie A outfit AC Milan, are the four top teams set to feature in this summer’s Hong Kong Football Festival.
Organisers revealed that the teams will be playing friendly matches at the city’s new Kai Tak stadium in July 2025 when they visit Hong Kong as part of their pre-season preparations.
“We are expecting 100,000 people, more than half from outside Hong Kong, generating great value to the local economy,” Rachael Carroll, managing director of TEG Sport, said concerning the pre-season tournament.
“Hong Kong is all set to welcome Liverpool, AC Milan, Arsenal and Tottenham. This is a celebration of Hong Kong and Asia’s long-standing passion for football,” Rosanna Law Shuk-pui, the Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism, added.
“The ambitions for Kai Tak were always to have Tier 1 sports and particularly Tier 1 football as part of our offering to Hong Kong, the region and international visitors,” CEO of Kai Tak Sports Park, John Sharkey, said.
Liverpool will take on AC Milan on July 26, with the winner emerging champions of the Standard Chartered Trophy. Five days later, it will be North London, Arsenal and Spurs, to face off on July 31 – the first North London derby to be played outside of the United Kingdom.
