Nigeria’s 100m hurdles queen Tobi Amusan continued her preparation for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris with a good finish at the Holloway Pro Classic event in Florida, United States.
Seen as one of Team Nigeria’s best prospects to win a gold medal at the Olympics, Amusan recovered well from a poor start to finish second in the race with a time of 12.60 seconds.
Her time in Florida is 0.2 seconds behind her season’s best of 12.40 seconds, as she finished just 0.02 seconds behind race winner Grace Stark of the US who clocked a time of 12.58 seconds.
Stark’s win continues her impressive season which has also seen her win the NCAA Championship and finish second in the US Olympic Trials with a personal best time of 12.31 seconds.
The youngster finished behind fellow American Masai Russell at the Trials. But Russell ended up in third place in the Holloway Pro Classic finale with a time of 12.66 seconds.
