Nigerian hurdles star Tobi Amusan has secured her spot in the semifinals of the women’s 100m hurdles at the Paris 2024 Olympics. Amusan, the current world record holder, won her heat with a time of 12.49 seconds.

Amusan’s closest competitor in the heat was Alaysha Johnson from the USA, who finished in second place with a time of 12.61 seconds. Despite her best efforts, Johnson couldn’t match the pace set by the Nigerian star.

Jamaican hurdler Janeek Brown completed the race in third place, clocking 12.84 seconds, rounding off a fiercely contested heat.

Amusan’s qualification comes after one of Nigeria’s medal hopefuls, Favour Ofili finished sixth in the women’s 200m final on Tuesday.
