Victor Boniface’s Bayer Leverkusen boss, Xabi Alonso, is expected to announce a decision on his future at a press conference on Thursday and bring an end to speculation that has surrounded the highly sought tactician.
Alonso is set to provide clarity on his immediate future according to Spanish publication AS. The former Real Madrid and Liverpool midfielder is expected to announce his decision at his pre-match press conference ahead of Friday’s Bundesliga clash with VFL Bochum.
There has been speculation surrounding the Spanish tactician’s future, who has been heavily linked with Real Madrid for months now. However, sources close to the 43 year-old reveal that Alonso intends to stay beyond the summer at the Bay Arena just as he did a year ago ahead of the current campaign.
The former Bayern Munich star could still end up at Real Madrid – possibly in 2026, when Carlo Ancelotti’s contract as manager expires.
