Super Eagles Squad Stranded at Libya Airport Ahead of AFCON Qualifying Clash

Nigeria’s national football team, the Super Eagles, have been left stranded at Al-Abraq Airport in Libya with 48 hours to go before the crucial AFCON 2025 qualifying match between Nigeria and Libya in Benina, near Benghazi.

The Super Eagles were originally scheduled to land in Benghazi, which is aa few minutes drive to the match venue, only for the flight to be diverted while airborne to Al-Abraq Airport which is about three hours’ drive to the match venue.

Nigeria head into the encounter top of the qualifying group with seven points from three matches and will be aiming to strengthen their position with a positive result against the Mediterranean Knights who are bottom with one point.
