Nigeria’s Super Eagles have been awarded three points and three goals against Libya by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) in a decision by the governing body’s disciplinary committee.
The decision comes following the abandoned 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier between both nations after the Super Eagles were left stranded at the Al-Abraq Airport in Libya for more than 15 hours.
As a result of the CAF verdict, Nigeria now have 10 points from four matches, four points clear of Benin Republic with two matches left to play in the qualifying series.
Libya, also fined $50,000 by CAF in the verdict given on Saturday, remain bottom of the group with one point and can only qualify for AFCON 2025 by winning their remaining two matches and hoping Nigeria also win their two games.
This leaves the Super Eagles needing just a point from the remaining matches (against Benin and Rwanda) to confirm qualification for the 2025 AFCON to be hosted by Morocco in December 2025.
