Nigeria’s home-based national team have qualified for the Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) 2025 following a 3-1 win over West African arch-rivals, Ghana, in Uyo on Saturday.
The Super Eagles B wasted little time in the second leg clash to effectively end the contest as first-half goals from Sodiq Ismail, Nduka Junior and Savior Isaac put Nigeria 3-0 up after only 26 minutes.
Ismail was put through on goal and made no mistake to slot past the Ghana keeper after 19 minutes, before Junior doubled Nigeria’s lead after smashing in a loose ball as the Black Galaxies failed to clear their lines from a Nigerian corner-kick.
Isaac put the game too bed after 26 minutes, nicking the ball off a Ghana defender following a poor clearance from the keeper and have the home crowd already celebrating well.
Ghana’s Black Galaxies pulled a goal back in the second half through Stephen Amenkona, but it proved to be mere consolation as Nigeria held on to book a first CHAN appearance since 2018.
