Nigeria’s home-based Super Eagles have played out a goalless draw against the Black Galaxies of Ghana in the first leg of their African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifier in Accra.
Ghana dominated much of the proceedings in the first leg but were unable to find the crucial breakthrough as Nigeria held on for the draw.
The result sets up an intriguing return leg at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo in a week, with a place at CHAN 2025 – to be co-hosted by Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda – at stake.
Nigeria’s Super Eagles B have failed to reach the last two editions of CHAN and will be hoping to avoid missing out for the third successive time in the second leg match.
The return leg is scheduled to hold December 28 as the West African arch-rivals aim to reach the finals of the competition reserved for footballers playing in their home country’s league.
