Aston Martin driver, Lance Stroll, has pulled out of Sunday’s Spanish Grand Prix, in a blow that leaves the team with just one driver – Fernando Alonso – racing for points due to ‘sporting regulations’.
Stroll experienced pain in his hand and wrist during the qualifying sessions, with a medical team confirming that the 26-year-old Canadian will have to undergo a procedure to treat the issues before he can return to racing.
“Over the course of the past six weeks Lance [Stroll] has been experiencing pain in his hand and wrist, which his medical consultant believes is in relation to the procedure he underwent in 2023,” Aston Martin said on Saturday.
The statement adds, “As a result his medical team have confirmed that he will not race tomorrow and he will undergo a procedure to rectify these issues before focusing on his recovery.”
