New manager Arne Slot got his Liverpool tenure off to a winning start in the tour of the United States thanks to a 1-0 win over La Liga side Real Betis in a pre-season friendly match.

The match, played in front of 42,000 fans in the Acrisure Stadium, Pittsburgh also saw the Reds reunite with goalkeeper Adrian, who completed a free transfer to Betis at the end of his Liverpool contract in June.

Sentiments were cast aside, though, as Dominic Szoboszlai slotted home the game winner past Adrian midway through the first half after latching on to a pass from Mohamed Salah.

Conor Bradley and Kaide Gordon came close to doubling Liverpool’s advantage in each half respectively but were both denied by Adrian and half-time substitute Rui Silva, who also made an easy save from Fabio Carvalho.

Next up for the Reds is a friendly against Premier League rivals Arsenal on August 1 in Philadelphia. Check out odds on this and other upcoming matches…
