A total of six players have made the final shortlist for the 2024-25 PFA Young Player of the Year award won by Chelsea’s Cole Palmer last season, including two from Arsenal, one from a relegated team and another from Aston Villa.
Chelsea’s new number nine, Liam Delap, is nominated for the prize after standing out for Ipswich Town by scoring 12 goals and adding two assists for the Tractor Boys. Delap is joined in the nominees list by Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers, and Bournemouth defenders Milos Kerkez and Dean Huijsen.
Huijsen has since completed a move to Real Madrid and was in the starting line-up for Los Blancos’ 1-1 draw with Al Hilal in the La Liga giants’ opening match at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup taking place in the United States.
Also nominated for the award are Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly of Arsenal, with the former setting a number of records for youngest appearance, start, goal and assist, while Lewis-Skelly came in at a time injuries left the Gunners without a senior left back and made the position his with consistent displays.
The PFA awards ceremony takes place on Tuesday 19 August at the Manchester Opera House, when the PFA Players’ Player of the Year and the 2024/25 Team of the Year will also be announced.
