Cameroon football legend and President of the country’s football governing body, Samuel Eto’o, was left in his feelings after coming upon an old teammate during a function in Douala, Cameroon.
Eto’o was attending an Ecobank Group seminar when someone in the crowd caught the former Barcelona, Inter Milan and Chelsea striker’s attention by calling him an old nickname.
He initially waved the person before turning back again as he recognised the face, then hugging the old teammate, sharing pleasantries and letting people around, including Ecobank Cameroon Managing Director, Gwendoline Abunaw, know who he is: “He was my colleague. I played with him.”

It is reported Eto’o told his old teammate to leave his details with his assistant since he needed to be in a meeting within a few minutes, so they could catch up later on.
“We need to meet up. We can’t talk right now because I have meetings in 10 minutes, but tell Christian (my assistant and a mutual friend) to arrange everything so we can meet up later. I’m happy to see you, my friend,” Eto’o said in French.
Eto’o’s football journey began at the Kadji Sports Academy in Douala, Cameroon. He first played for UCB Douala, a second-division club, during the 1996 Cup of Cameroon.
