Mo Salah continues to set records after reaching multiple milestones as Liverpool claimed an emphatic 6-3 win in a Premier League match at Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
The Egyptian forward scored two goals and provided two assists as the Reds moved four points clear at the top of the Premier League. with Chelsea dropping points at Everton following a goalless draw at Merseyside earlier on Sunday.
In North London, Luiz Diaz broke the deadlock for the Reds with a diving header from Trent Alexander-Arnold’s pinpoint cross into the Spurs area midway through the first half.
Alexis Mac Allister doubled Liverpool’s lead 10 minutes before the break before Dominik Szoboszlai restored the visitors’ two-goal cushion in first half stoppage time after James Maddison had pulled one back for Spurs.
It took nine minutes of the second half for the Reds onslaught to continue as Salah got himself on the scoresheet to make it 4-1, and he wasted little time to get his brace to make it 5-1 just after the hour mark.
Ange Postecoglu’s attack-oriented team fought back with goals from Dejan Kulusevski and Dominic Solanke ensuring a thrilling end to the match, which Diaz settled for Liverpool five minutes from time.
Salah’s goals and assists make him the first player in Premier League history to reach double figures in goals and assists before Christmas. He has also reached the figures for the fourth consecutive season and is now the first player to do so in six different Premier League seasons.
