Finidi George’s Rivers United have reignited the Nigeria Premier Football League title race with Remo Stars after claiming a 1-0 win over the Ikenna-based outfit in a match at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port-Harcourt.
Following a goalless first half in the top-of-the-table clash, the game looked set to finish in a draw until David Sholumade came up with the winner for the home side after 84 minutes of a keenly contested encounter.
Sholumade’s goal put Rivers United on 55 points from 32 matches, five points behind Remo Stars, who have a game in hand which will be played in midweek in a trip to face relegation-threatened Lobi Stars.
