Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) leaders, Remo Stars, showed great resilience to come from two goals down and complete a 3-2 win over visiting Abia Warriors in Ikenne on Wednesday.
Abia Warriors opened the scoring through Ezekiel Ayodele’s header from a corner-kick midway through the first half, followed a minute later by Ijeoma DeSouza’s goal a minute later at the end of a counter-attacking move.
Remo Stars almost went down 3-0 before the half-hour mark as the Warriors were rampant, with the hosts’ captain, Nduka Junior, making a last-ditch clearance to prevent his team from going three goals down.
The clearance proved crucial as goals by Olamilekan Adedayo and Jabbar Malik levelled the scores for Remo Stars ahead of the half-time break. Tochukwu Michael then scored the winner with a 53rd minute header, completing a thrilling comeback for Oga Boys.
Elsewhere in the NPFL, Kano Pillars were handed a 4-1 loss by Ikorodu City while Rangers International fell 2-1 to El-Kanemi Warriors. Bayelsa United got a 4-1 win over Sunshine Stars and Akwa United played out a 1-1 draw with Lobi Stars in Uyo.
