Six-time Formula 1 Constructors’ champions, Red Bull, are parting ways with Sergio Perez, bringing an end to four years of competing on the circuit together.
Perez is leaving the team despite still having two years left on his existing deal there, as both parties reached a mutual agreement to terminate his contract.
“I’m incredibly grateful for the past four years with Red Bull Racing and for the opportunity to race with such an amazing team. Driving for Red Bull has been an unforgettable experience,” Perez stated following his exit.
The 34-year-old Mexican’s exit comes a week after team-mate, Max Verstappen, finished the 2024 season as world champion for the fourth time. Perez on his part failed to win a race in 2024 and finished in a podium place only four times.
He is expected to be replaced by 22-year-old New Zealander Liam Lawson.
