Barcelona’s dangerous wingers, Raphinha and Lamine Yamal, proved unstoppable on the night as the La Liga leaders booked a spot in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals thanks a 3-1 victory over Benfica in their round-of-16 second leg tie on Tuesday night.
The Catalans had won the reverse fixture 1-0 in Lisbon despite being down to ten men and wrapped up the contest with an explosive display in the first half.
Hansi Flick‘s side opened the scoring through the prolific Raphinha, following brilliant work by Lamine Yamal.
Former Manchester City defender Nicolas Otamendi equalized for Benfica as he headed home but Yamal produced another moment of brilliance with a sublime finish from long range to re-establish Barca’s lead.
Shortly before half-time, Raphinha netted his second to put the tie beyond the reach of the Portuguese Primeira Liga side.
The second half produced no goals as Barcelona sealed a 4-1 aggregate victory to book their place in the quarter-finals and will face either Borussia Dortmund or Lille in the last-eight.
