Kano Pillars captain, Rabiu Ali, scored a long-range free-kick as Kano Pillars came from two goals down to force a 2-2 draw with Lobi Stars in a Nigeria Premier Football League match in Makurdi.
Daniel Amokachi’s Lobi looked set to secure a crucial win through goals from Liman Amadou and Ossy Martins in the opening 15 minutes as the Benue-based club fight to climb out of the relegation zone.
But Ali’s stunning free-kick, his eighth in the league, after 76 minutes gave Pillars confidence to push for another goal which came just two minutes later through Mustapha Umar.
The result leaves Lobi second from bottom with 13 points from 13 matches, while Pillars are five points ahead with 18 points.
Elsewhere in the league on Saturday, Ikorodu City extended their unbeaten run to four games after coming away from Minna with a point in a goalless draw with Niger Tornadoes.
Heartland and Enugu Rangers also played out a goalless draw in an Oriental derby in Owerri, while El Kanemi Warriors pipped Akwa United 1-0 while Bendel Insurance moved to within a point of Lobi at the bottom of the league after a 3-1 win over Kwara United in Benin.
