Paris Saint-Germain have sealed the Ligue 1 title with six games to spare following a 1-0 win over Angers at the Parc Des Princes on Saturday, a result that has given Luis Enrique’s side an unassailable lead in the French top-flight.
They were made to sweat for this win by a resolute Angers side, though, as the visitors played a low block to frustrate the attacking efforts of a PSG side gunning for a quadruple of titles this season.
Following a goalless first half, it took 10 minutes of the second half for the Parisians to finally break the deadlock through Desire Doue, who fired home a volley off Khvica Kvaratskhelia’s cross.
Enrique brought on Ousmane Dembele and Bradley Barcola just after the hour mark as PSG rested a number of first team regulars with an eye on the Champions League first leg at home to PSG in midweek.
Angers stayed resolute to keep the score respectable but it mattered little for PSG, who eased to a ninth consecutive league win and sealed the another league title – the first of a possible four titles the club could end the season.
The title is PSG’s fourth consecutive league success, eighth in the last 10 seasons and 13th overall, becoming only the second team to go unbeaten for 28 games from the start of the season after FC Nantes went 32 games unbeaten in the 1994-95 season.
