A number of Premier League clubs can sleep well for now after avoiding getting charged with Profit and Sustainability (PSR) breaches for the three-year reporting period between 2021 and 2024.
This follows the submission of financial accounts by all 20 top-flight clubs for the year ending 2024 by December 31, 2024, a requirement for clubs that reported losses in the first two years of the cycle.
Premier League clubs that were in the most danger of getting punished were Leicester City, Aston Villa, Newcastle United and Everton.
Chelsea also escaped PSR breaches after selling the women’s team to the club’s parent company by June 28, 2024, as well as two hotels near Stamford Bridge to a sister company in September.
Despite the ruling, Leicester City remains at risk, pending the resolution of an ongoing legal case, while new financial rules are to commence from the 2024/2025 season.
