A Plateau United player has suffered a major injury after getting stabbed in the neck by a fan of Nasarawa United following the Nigeria Premier Football League match between both teams at the Lafia City Stadium on Sunday.
Vincent Temitope, who pulled a goal back for Plateau United just before the hour mark, was left bleeding profusely after the vicious attack which occurred as members of the visiting team and match officials were assaulted by home fans at the end of the match which ended 3-2 in Nasarawa’s favour.

The violence is likely to see Nasarawa United get punished by the NPFL’s disciplinary committee, less than a week after Shooting Stars was fined N5 million and ordered to play their remaining home matches this season behind closed doors following the violence that occurred after the goalless draw with Ikorodu City.
Nasarawa moved up to 14th on the NPFL table with 42 points, going level with Plateau, who are ahead of the Lafia club as well as 15th placed El-Kanemi Warriors by virtue of a better goal difference.
