The Philadelphia Eagles put up a solid display at the Super Bowl to claim a 40-22 blowout of defending champions, Kansas City Chiefs, to be emerge as the new NFL title holders in New Orleans on Sunday night (US Time).

Kansas City Chiefs were making a fifth Super Bowl appearance in six years and going for a third straight Super Bowl title but were met by an inspired Eagles side that left the favourites and spectators stunned.

The Eagles, back at the Super Bowl after losing to the Chiefs in 2023, dominated proceedings from the start and went into a 34-0 lead by half-time to leave Patrick Mahomes and the defending champions with an Everest to overcome in the second half.

Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes was sacked six times and threw two interceptions as the quest for a three-peat was ruthlessly quashed, with Jalen Hurts – named MVP after the match – leading the Eagles to a second ever Super Bowl, sealing the big moment with a 46-yard touchdown pass.
