Spanish duo Maria Perez and Alvaro Martin have made history after winning gold in the first ever marathon race walk mixed relay.
It is the first gold medal for Spain in any race walk event since Barcelona 1992. Perez and Martin crossed the finish line with a time of 2:50.31.
Brian Pintado and Glenda Morejon earned silver for Ecuador in 2:51.23 while Rhydian Cowley and Jemima Montag of Australia completed the podium to take bronze, crossing the line in 2:51.38.
