Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has revealed that John Stones will be out of action for close to three months after the defender picked up an injury recently.
The 30-year-old picked up a thigh injury during Manchester City’s 3-1 defeat to Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League playoff round second-leg tie at the Bernabeu.
Sharing an update on Stones’ injury, Guardiola told reporters: “No, (he will not need) surgery. He can [recover within] eight to 10 weeks without surgery.”
Stones’ injury means he will miss England’s upcoming FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Albania and Latvia, which will see newly-appointed head coach Thomas Tuchel make his managerial debut for the Euro 2024 finalists.
