Team Nigeria quartet of Justina Eyakpobeyan, Favour Ofili, Rosemary Chukwuma and Tima Godbless finished sixth in Heat 2 of the women’s 4x100m event at the Olympic Games in Paris.
The quartet crossed the finish line with a Season’s Best time of 42.70 seconds, missing out on the automatic position to the final.
Team USA’s formidable women’s team comprising 200m gold medal winner Gabby Thomas and Sha’Carri Richardson, Melissa Jefferson and Twanisha “TeeTee” Terry won their relay heat in 41.94 seconds.
Meanwhile, Nigeria’s men’s 4x100m quartet of Favour Ashe, Ajayi Kayinsola, Alaba Akintola and Usheoritse Itsekiri crossed the line at 38.20 seconds.
While the time was a season’s best for the team, it was not good enough to make it to the final as the team finished in seventh place to cap an underwhelming relay display from Nigeria at the Games.
