Super Eagles star, Victor Osimhen, scored twice in the second half to give Galatasaray a 2-1 win over Rizespor in a Turkish Super Lig match played at the Caykur Didi Stadium on Monday night.
Osimhen missed the 4-1 loss at AZ Alkmaar in a Europa League knock-out phase first leg playoff last week due to suspension, and his return to the Galatasaray attack for the trip to Rize proved crucial.
Following a goalless first half, Osimhen broke the deadlock for Galatasaray two minutes into the second half with a header, though Ali Sowe levelled the scores for Rizespor six minutes later.
Just when the game looked set to end in a draw, Mario Lemina’s ball into the area was met by Osimhen, who headed in his second goal of the game and 14th of the league season to win it for Galatasaray in the 86th minute.
The result sends Galatasaray six points clear of Fenerbahce at the top of the Turkish Super Lig after 23 games played.
