Nigeria’s Blessing Oborududu has secured her place in the semifinals of the women’s 68kg wrestling event at Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
Oborududu defeated her French opponent, Koumba Larroque, in a 6-2 points victory in their quarterfinal match, effectively silencing the home crowd.
With her qualification for the semifinals set for later this evening, Oborududu is now assured of leaving the Olympics with a medal, regardless of its colour.
This remarkable performance brings hope to Nigerian fans, who had begun to despair after watching their athletes go 10 days without a medal at Paris 2024.
