Ofili Joins Alfred to Reach Women’s 200m Olympic Final Where Formidable Thomas Awaits

Nigeria’s sprint queen Favour Ofili has made it to the women’s 200m final at the Olympic Games in Paris, joining St Lucia’s Julien Alfred in what promises to be a thrilling final.

Ofili clocked a season’s best time of 22.05 seconds in the first semi-final, becoming the first Nigerian to reach the 200m final at the Olympics in 28 years.

She finished just behind newly crowned Olympic 100m champion Julien Alfred who crossed the line in 21.98 seconds.

Team USA’s McKenzie Long joined them in the final after clocking 22.30 seconds in third place.

They will meet in-form Gabby Thomas of the United States in the final. Thomas blazed through her semi-final with the fastest time of 21.86 seconds to reach the showpiece race.
