Matheus Cunha’s move from Wolverhampton Wanderers to Manchester United has been confirmed by the Red Devils in a statement on the club’s website on Sunday, subject to visa and registration of the Brazilian forward.
26-year-old Cunha heads to Old Trafford as United’s first signing of this summer in a £62.5m move from Molineux, where he scored 15 goals in the recently concluded Premier League season.
“Manchester United has reached agreement with Wolverhampton Wanderers for the signing of Matheus Cunha,” the club stated. “The Brazilian forward’s signing is subject to visa and registration.”
Cunha’s signing comes after the strike duo of Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee finished the Premier League season with just seven goals combined.
Coupled with the likes of Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Antony and Alejandro Garnacho not in the plans of manager, Ruben Amorim, it is expected that Cunha will shape a new look attack for United.
The Brazilian’s salary with Wolves was thought to be around £120,000 a week, but this is now expected to go up to £200,000 a week at the Red Devils. Already, United fans are getting acquainted with their new player, with many “Welcome to Manchester United” messages popping up on social media.
