Barcelona have announced the signing of Spanish international Dani Olmo on a six-year deal from Bundesliga side RB Leipzig, marking a return to Camp Nou for the La Masia graduate.
Olmo joins Barca after enjoying European Championship success with Spain, scoring three goals to end the tournament as joint top scorer as the team claimed the title at England’s expense.
The 26-year-old, whose buyout clause has been set at €500 million, represented Barcelona at the beginning of his career before leaving the club for Croatia in 2014, joining Dinamo Zagreb.
Olmo’s performance at Dinamo earned him a deserved move to RB Leipzig in 2020. He went on to win the German Cup twice and a German Super Cup.
Following his homecoming, Barcelona have released an official statement on their website to confirm his signing from RB Leipzig on Friday afternoon.
“FC Barcelona and RB Leipzig have reached an agreement for the transfer of Dani Olmo,” the club stated. “The player will sign a contract with the Club for the next six seasons, until 30 June 2030, and his buyout clause is set at 500 million euros,” the Catalans added.
