Ethan Nwaneri was on target as Arsenal slammed the brakes on Liverpool’s Premier League title celebrations after powering to a comfortable 4-0 victory away to Ipswich Town at Portman Road on Sunday.

Fresh from conquering Spanish La Liga heavyweights Real Madrid to reach the last-four of the UEFA Champions League in midweek, Arsenal came into the fixture in the knowledge that a win would delay table-toppers Liverpool potential title celebrations for at least another week and they got the job done in a business-like manner.

The Gunners broke the deadlock before the quarter-hour when Bukayo Saka’s cutback went off Martin Odegaard into the path of Leandro Trossard who swept home a tame shot.

Within the half-hour mark, it was two for the Gunners. Bukayo Saka surged past Jacob Greaves before cutting back to Mikel Merino, who then backheeled the ball towards the back post where Gabriel Martinelli arrived to slot home his 50th goal for the Gunners.

Ipswich Town’s woes increased when defender Leif Davis was sent off for a reckless and dangerous challenge on Bukayo Saka.

The impressive Leandro Trossard soon grabbed his brace of the afternoon, stroking his effort home after a quickly-taken corner caught the hosts cold.

Youngster Ethan Nwaneri then added a fourth late on, as his shot took a deflection to beat Ipswich Town keeper Alex Palmer as the Gunners cruised to victory.

The win keeps Arsenal in the title race mathematically, though it is only a matter of time in regards to when Liverpool seals the top-flight division crown.

As for Ipswich Town, relegation to the championship will be confirmed when they drop points, after suffering a seventh successive home league defeat in 2025.
