Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) have hit Nasarawa United with sanctions in the aftermath of match officials and members of the Plateau United contingent being harassed in the league match between both teams in Lafia over the weekend.
Nasarawa United have been banished from Lafia and will play the remaining home games this season at the Pantami Stadium in Gombe State. The club has also been fined N6 million in total by the NPFL.

The Lafia-based club is expected to pay N1 million each for failure to provide adequate security, and another N1 million for failing to control their supporters. It will also pay N3 million for breaching the league’s rules.
According to the league’s disciplinary committee, Nasarawa United failed to ensure adequate and effective security at the match venue, leading to individuals gaining unauthorised access to restricted areas of the stadium and wreaking havoc.
The incident saw players of visiting Plateau United get assaulted, including Vincent Temitope who suffered a vicious after getting stabbed in the neck. Nasarawa United is expected to pay N1 million in compensation and medical expense as a result.
