Chiamaka Nnadozie was in form for Nigeria, making a number of good saves as the Super Falcons continued preparations for the upcoming Women’s Africa Cup of Nations by playing out a goalless draw with Portugal on Monday.

Justin Madugu’s Falcons were on the backfoot early on, with Diana Silva pouncing on a bad back-pass by Christy Ucheibe but wasting the golden chance to score by sending her shot wide of the Falcons goal after only six minutes at the Estadio Jose Gomes in Lisbon.

Nnadozie was called into action three minutes later with a routine save, before Rasheeday Ajibade went close for Nigeria after being set up by veteran forward, Francisca Ordega.

The Super Falcons goalkeeper made another good save to keep the score goalless midway through the first half, before denying Portugal with three stunning saves in four second-half minutes from efforts by Jessica Silva, Fatima Pinto and Andreia Norton.

Nigeria came close to finding the breakthrough 10 minutes from time when Ordega rattled the crossbar after trying her luck with a long-range effort, while Onumonu just fell short of squaring past the goalkeeper from another inspired Ordega cross as both sides settled for the draw.

Next up for the Super Falcons is a friendly against arch-rivals, the Black Queens of Ghana, on Sunday in Casablanca, followed by the match against Tunisia to kick-off their WAFCON campaign on July 6.
