Denver Nuggets star Nikola has become the first center in NBA history to average a triple-double in a regular season, helping the franchise to a 117-109 win over play-off chasing Memphis Grizzlies on Friday night.
The Serbian registered his 34th triple-double of the season with 26 points, 13 assists and 16 rebounds to keep the Nuggets tied with Los Angeles Clippers for the fourth seed in the Western Conference with one game of the regular season remaining.
Jokic’s 34 triple-doubles this campaign is tied for the fourth most in a season in NBA history. His season average also makes him just the third player to achieve the milestone after Oscar Robertson and team-mate, Russell Westbrook, who achieved the feat four times.
Elsewhere, the Golden State Warriors kept alive their hopes of a fourth-placed finish in the Western Conference with a 103-86 victory against the Portland Trailblazers, courtesy of a 24 points haul plus seven assists from Jimmy Butler.
