Chiamaka Nnadozie of Nigeria has been awarded the 2024 Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year prize at the CAF Awards in Marrakech, Morocco.
The Paris FC keeper wins the award for the second year in a row, beating Andile Dlamini, Khadija Er-Rmichi, Habiba Sabry, and Fideline Ngoy to the 2024 crown.
“This is for every young girl who dares to dream. I am honoured to represent Nigeria and Africa on this stage,” the 24-year-old said while accepting her award.
She added, ”This award is a testament to hard work, resilience, and the incredible support I’ve received from my teammates and coaches.”
Along with assured displays for Nigeria, Nnadozie’s recognition comes in part for helping Paris FC finish third in the French top-flight behind Lyon and PSG, winning the Goalkeeper of the Season for the 2023/24 campaign.
However, Nnadozie failed to make the CAF/FIFPro Best XI which saw four of her Super Falcons teammates – Michelle Alozie, Osinachi Ohale, Rasheedat Ajibade and Asisat Oshoala – listed in the team. Instead, South Africa goalkeeper, Andile Dlamini, was listed as the goalkeeper in the XI.
