The Nigeria women’s U-17 national team have discovered their group stage opponents following the draw ceremony for the 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup at the Mohammed VI Football Academy in Rabat.

In what will be an eighth appearance at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, Nigeria have been drawn to face Canada, France, and Samoa in Group D of the competition coming up in Morocco from October 17 to November 8.

The draw was conducted by Doha El Madani, a Moroccan senior international and Fatiha Laassiri, a former member of the Moroccan national team, under the leadership of Jaime Yarza, Director of the FIFA Tournament Division, and Sarai Bareman, FIFA’s chief women’s football officer.

Other groups from the draws have host nation, Morocco, facing Brazil, Italy and Costa Rica in Group A, defending champions Korea DPR locking horns with Mexico, Cameroon, and the Netherlands in Group B, while Group C will feature the United States of America, Ecuador, China and Norway.

Group E has Spain, Colombia, Korea Republic and Cote d’Ivoire, while Group F sees Japan – the all-time top scorers in the competition with 125 goals across nine editions – looking to extend the record against New Zealand, Zambia and Paraguay.

This edition of the U-17 Women’s World Cup will be the first in history to feature 24 countries, and it is also the first to be held on the African continent. The revamped tournament will see Morocco host the next five editions of the cadet event, beginning from this year and continuing annually until 2029.

Morocco and Brazil will set the ball rolling in the opening match on October 17, with the top two countries from each of the six groups advancing to the round-of-16, along with the four best third-placed nations.
