Nicolas Jackson Earns Chelsea Narrow Win to Keep Champions League Qualification Hopes Alive

Chelsea remain firmly in the hunt for a spot in next season’s UEFA Champions League thanks to a 1-0 win over Everton in a Premier League match played at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

The Blues provisionally rise to third place on the league table thanks to Nicolas Jackson’s first league goal in 2025, with the Senegal international firing home from just outside the Everton area after being set up by Enzo Fernandez in the 27th minute.

Jackson thought he had scored a second in the closing stages, only for the effort to be ruled out for offside as Enzo Maresca’s side move to fourth spot with 60 points after 34 games, though they could drop to fifth if Newcastle United win at home to Ipswich Town later on Saturday.

The top five teams in the Premier League at the end of the season will qualify for next season’s Champions League campaign.
