Brazilian forward Neymar has signed a six-month contract extension with his boyhood club, Santos, on Tuesday, with the deal set to see the 33-year-old remain with the club until the end of the year along with the possibility of renewing after it expires.
The former Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain star joined Santos in January 2025 from Al Hilal after an injury ravaged spell with the Saudi Pro League club, which limited the number of appearances he made for the club.
“I made a decision and I listened to my heart. Santos is not just my team; it is my home, my roots, my history and my life. I grew up here and became a man here. I am truly loved here. Here I can be myself and be truly happy,” Neymar said in a statement.
Neymar has continued dealing with injury concerns at Santos, making only four matches in the Brazilian Serie A no thanks to a thigh problem which has left him on the sidelines for over four weeks. He is also recovering from Covid-19 after testing positive earlier in June.
