Former Barcelona and PSG star, Neymar, has scored his first goal since returning to boyhood club, Santos, in a 3-1 win over Agua Santa in a Paulista Championship match played on Sunday.
The 33-year-old converted a 14th minute penalty, with Thaciano adding a second and Guilherme scoring the third off an assist from Neymar to help Santos secure the win.
Neymar’s goal was his first since October 2023 when he was on the books of Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal. However, a knee injury restricted him to just seven appearances with the Saudi giants.
The goal was also a first for Neymar since rejoining Santos on a deal that runs until the end of June and it left Neymar feeling happy with his time at Santos, saying after the match: “I’m happy to be playing again. I feel I’m improving.”
He added, “Obviously I’m not going to be 100% physically, it’s only my fourth game but I’m getting better and better. I was anxious to score and wanted to dedicate this to the fans and my family.”
Santos will take on Noroeste in another Paulista Championship match on Wednesday.
