Enyimba have seen their winless streak in recent games extend to 10 matches in all competitions following a goalless draw at home to Bendel Insurance in a Nigeria Premier Football League match on New Year’s Eve in Aba.
Stanley Eguma made his bow in the match as Enyimba’s new head coach, while former Super Eagles striker, Brown Ideye, also made his debut for the People’s Elephant when he came off the bench in the second half.
The result is the fourth successive goalless draw for Enyimba in the NPFL, and seventh straight match they have shared the points with their opponents in the Nigerian top-flight.
It is now two months since the People’s Elephant last celebrated a win in all competitions – a 2-1 win at home to Ikorodu City at the end of October 2024.
The poor run of form is what led to the sack of Yemi Olarenwaju as Enyimba head coach, with Stanley Eguma taking over the reins right after. However, there has been no new manager bounce for the Aba side for now.
Next up for Enyimba is three matches to salvage their CAF Confederation Cup campaign, starting with the home clash against Black Bulls on January 5.
