Goals by former Manchester United duo, Scott McTominay and Romelu Lukaku, have earned Napoli this season’s Serie A title following a 2-0 win at home to Cagliari, finishing a point ahead of Inter Milan after the Nerazzurri also got a 2-0 win at Como on Friday night.
A rollercoaster Friday night in Naples and Como saw Inter Milan take the lead in the title race through Stefan De Vrij’s 20th minute header, before McTominay put Napoli ahead against Cagliari in the 42nd minute to have the Partenopei back in front in the race.
Dramatically, Lukaku and Joaquin Correa both scored five minutes into the second half for Napoli and Inter respectively as both teams extended their advantages, with Napoli holding on to win a fourth league title in their history, and dethrone Inter Milan.
The win makes Napoli manager, Antonio Conte, the first to guide three different teams to the Scudetto, previously winning the title at Juventus and, coincidentally, at Inter Milan.
